Specify:

·    Length of observation

·    confidence interval

·    Alternate hypothesis

·    A test and confidence interval based on normal approximation methods.

Dialog box items

Confidence level: Enter the level of confidence desired. Enter any number between 0 and 100; entries between 0 and 1 are interpreted as percentages. Therefore, entering either 90 or 0.9 will result in a 90% confidence interval. The default is 95.

Alternative hypothesis: Choose Rate < hypothesized rate (lower-tailed), not Rate hypothesized rate (two-tailed), or Rate > hypothesized rate (upper-tailed). If you choose a lower-tailed or an upper-tailed hypothesis test, Minitab calculates an upper or lower confidence bound, respectively, instead of a full confidence interval.

Method: Choose to use the exact method  or the normal approximation method to calculate the hypothesis test and confidence interval.

Length of observation (time, items, area, etc.): Enter the length of the observation period. The default value is 1.
