To create a T chart, you can record your data in one of the following ways:

·  Dates and times of events

·  Time between events

·  Number of intervals between events

Dates and times of events

When your data are entered as dates and times, Minitab calculates the amount of time between events and plots each value on the T chart.

Date and time of patient fall

1/22/2011 8:05AM

1/25/2011 4:30PM

2/3/2011 5:45AM

2/5/2011 11:30AM

2/9/2011 9:30PM

Time between events

Time between events, also known as elapsed time, must be entered in the worksheet as hours, minutes, and seconds (hh:mm:ss format). If you do not record seconds, Minitab reads the seconds as 00. For example, Minitab reads the first value below as 80:25:00.

Time between patient falls

80:25

205:15

53:45

106:00

Number of intervals between events

You can record the number of intervals between events as days or hours. The number of days or hours must be greater than or equal to 0. A value of 0 indicates that two events happened simultaneously.
