Plot Mixture Design

Summary

Minitab provides three types of plots to aid in the analysis of a mixture design. These plots include:

·    design space plot, which helps you visualize the design space

·    factorial plots, which allow you to evaluate how process variables are related to the response

·    mixture response plots, which allow you to evaluate how the components, process variables, and an amount variable are related to the response based on a fitted model

Data Description

Researchers in a food laboratory are trying to improve a recipe for cheese fondue. They would like to study how the mixture blend and the serving temperature of the fondue affects the flavor (Flavor).

The mixture is comprised of three ingredients: two types of Swiss cheese (Emmenthaler and Gruyere) and white wine.

Note

To illustrate the factorial plots (main effects, interaction, and cube), the serving time (ServeTime) was included in the design. This process variable was not included in the analysis for any other plots.

Data: Cheese.MTW, Fondue2.MTW (available in the Sample Data folder).
