Sampling Criteria - Lot Size

There are a few things to consider when choosing a lot or batch size for sampling. Typically, people choose a lot size that is convenient for shipping and handling for both the supplier and consumers. For example, an entire shipment may make up a lot size. Because sampling plans assume homogeneity of parts in a given lot, the units that comprise a lot should be produced under the same processing conditions. Also, larger lots are generally more economical to inspect than a series of smaller lots.

Example Output

Measurement type:  Go/no go

Lot quality in percent defective

Lot size:  25000

Use the binomial distribution to calculate probability of acceptance

Interpretation

For the grocery bags, a shipment of 25000 bags is received every few days.
