To allocate gap pools

To do the simplest analysis:

1    In the Data window, enter the column or columns of allocation weights for the gap pools. If you have only a lower specification on the gap, which is the default analysis, there will be either a mean pool or a variance pool, but not both. In this case, you only need one set of weights. The weights must be between 0 and 1, and each set must sum to 1. See the data sets for an illustration.

Note

When you (optionally) enter both upper and lower specifications for the gap, Minitab calculates a mean pool and a variance pool. In this case, you need two sets of weights - one for each pool.

2    Choose Six Sigma > Design for Manufacturability >  Allocate Gap Pools.

3    Do one or both of the following:

·    In Allocation weights for Gap mean pool, enter the column containing gap mean allocation weights.

·    In Allocation weights for Gap variance pool, enter the column containing gap variance allocation weights.

4    Click OK.
