Data - Tolerance Intervals
main topic

Data can be entered in one of two ways:

·    Enter sample data in a numeric column.

·    Enter summarized data for one sample into the dialog box. You must know the sample size, mean, and standard deviation.

Data may come from a normal distribution or from any continuous, nonnormal distribution.

For nonnormal data, you must use a relatively large sample size, approximately 90 or more depending upon the minimum percentage of the population to cover; larger minimum percentages require larger sample sizes. If your sample size is not large enough, the nonparametric method will still produce a tolerance interval, but the achieved confidence level will be lower than desired.

Minitab automatically omits missing data from the calculations.
