Use to view shaded regions corresponding to a probability or x-value on a single probability distribution plot.

Three steps define the shaded area. Your choices change the options presented in this dialog box. You need to specify:

·    Whether you will enter a probability or x value region of interest. Choose one, and Minitab will calculate the other and display both on the graph.

·    Whether you want to shade one tail, two tails, or a middle region. This is your region of interest.

·    The endpoint(s) of the region. This will be either one or two values depending on the region you select.

Dialog box items

Define Shaded Area By

Probability: Choose to enter a probability region of interest.

X Value: Choose to enter an x-value region of interest.

Right Tail: Choose to shade the right tail.

Left Tail: Choose to shade the left tail.

Both Tails: Choose to shade both tails with equal probabilities.

Middle: Choose to shade a region in the middle of the curve.

Probability 1: (Probability only) Enter a probability to specify region endpoint.

Probability 2:  (Probability and Middle only) Enter a probability to specify region endpoint.

X value 1: (X value only) Enter an x-value to specify region endpoint.

X value 2: (X value and Middle only) Enter an x-value to specify region endpoint.
