Yes, you need to have proper inspection tools, and use proper METHODS to measure with them.
It is never acceptable to skip an inspection detail because you do not have the gauge and the not mention it.
The result is customer disappointment, and future loss of the business.
THIS IS WHY I ASKED YOU TO UPDATE AND MAINATIN THE QC TOOLS LIST.
Seems you did not do that, if you do not have a gauge to measure a part we have been shipping for YEARS now.
All open item inspection tools must be on hand and CALIBRATED!
Your job is to make sure the supplier DOES NOT PRODUCE DEFECTS by developing and enforcing a good SQP.
There is no LONG-TERM value in finding defects the supplier ships you. It prevents parts from shipping to customer in the short-term. But it also causes delays and added cost for both supplier and SolvIT!
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT INSPECTION IS NOT A QA PROGRAM.
Inspection is to determine when the QA PROGRAM FAILS!
