1.0 PURPOSE
This procedure defines the methodology used in preparing, organizing, performing and following up First Article Inspections on XXXX. This procedure is written to ensure that XXXX conform fully to customer expectations at an early stage in product delivery. This is viewed as a critical interface with the customer and it is important thatXXXX conformity, presentation, and documentation are acceptable to the customer.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure outlines the process required to plan for and complete the Customer FAI/ FSR. All unique XXXX part numbers, when manufactured for the first time, will fall under the guidelines for First Article Inspection.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
• Program Management
o Will interface with the customer regarding the FAI schedule, CFE equipment / material, participate / coordinate all pre-FAI reviews and chair the customer FAI review.
o Will conduct a post FAI review with Engineering, Operations & Quality.
o Will ensure communication of action closure to all stakeholders, including customer and OEM.
• Quality
o Will review all related documentation for compliance.
o Will conduct an internal FAI prior to the customer FAI.
o Will assist Program Management in the customer FAI event.
o Will provide all the detailed documents related to the FAI program.
• Engineering Project Line Manager
o Will participate in FAI meeting.
o Will support Program Management and Quality in communication of Engineering changes and status.

5.0 POLICY
It is the policy of XXXX to ensure that XXXX assemblies conform to all drawing and customer requirements. Processes have been established to provide a consistent method to inspect for conformity and present the results to the customer. This document has been written to comply with Airbus A1074 FAI Requirements for Suppliers, Boeing D6-81985 Passenger XXXX Inspection Criteria, and AS9102 Aerospace First Article Inspection requirement
6.0 GENERAL INFORMATION
FAI’s are conducted internally to ensure conformance of the finished XXXX assembly to approved drawing requirements. The customers may elect to conduct their own FAI review. If so, XXXX will facilitate such a review and present the finished articles and all relevant substantiation data to the customer in a formal and consistent method. The customer review will be documented and any open actions recorded and resolved as agreed upon during the review.
Where a Customer FAI is to be held off-site the following must be taken into consideration:
• Transport and resource to move the FAI units to the off-site location and layout the XXXX as required for FAI and remove all packaging.
• Availability of Tester Equipment and Harnesses and tool kit for the duration of the FAI
• Availability of Master Assembler and/or Test Operator for the duration of the FAI
• Review of the FAI venue to ensure the FAI Units can be presented in the designated room (hall width for delivery, availability of power for XXXX etc.)
• Communication of arrival times, number of attendees and agenda with the venue
Resource and transport to package ad remove the FAI units from off-site location
